A hydraulic quick coupling looks simple — two halves, a valve, a sleeve. But producing one that holds pressure at 350 bar and survives thousands of connect-disconnect cycles involves more than a dozen tightly controlled steps. Here is how Feiman Fluid Technology manufactures quick couplings, hydraulic valves and connectors from raw material to export-ready product.

1. Material Selection and Incoming Inspection

Production starts with certified bar stock — C45 carbon steel for standard series, stainless steel 316/304 for corrosive environments. Every batch arrives with an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate. Incoming inspection verifies hardness, diameter tolerance and surface defects. Batches failing spectrometer verification are rejected.

2. Sawing and Blanking

Bar stock is cut into blanks on automatic band saws with carbide-tipped blades. Blank length tolerance is held within ±0.5 mm. Each blank is sorted by ISO series — 03, 05, 08, 12, 20, 32, 40 and 50 — so downstream CNC cells receive correctly sized workpieces.

3. CNC Turning and Milling

Body, sleeve and valve components are machined on multi-axis CNC turning centers. Critical dimensions — bore diameter, thread pitch (BSPP, BSPT, NPT, JIC), O-ring groove width — are held to ISO 7241 and ISO 5675 tolerances. Thread gauges verify every fitting. Sealing surfaces are kept at Ra ≤ 1.6 µm to prevent leak paths.

4. Heat Treatment

Carbon steel components requiring elevated strength undergo quench-and-temper heat treatment. Target hardness for load-bearing bodies is HRC 22–28, balancing toughness against brittleness. Furnaces are calibrated weekly; hardness is verified with bench Rockwell testers on sample coupons from each batch.

5. Surface Treatment

Environment Treatment Salt-Spray Resistance
General industrial Zinc plating + chromate ≥ 96 hours
Outdoor / marine Zinc-nickel plating ≥ 720 hours
Corrosive / food Stainless passivation
Lightweight Hard anodized aluminum ≥ 120 hours

Coating thickness is measured with a magnetic gauge. Plating adhesion is checked by cross-hatch test per ISO 2819.

6. Valve and Seal Assembly

Poppet valves, springs, retaining rings and elastomer seals are assembled at dedicated cells. Seal materials are matched to application: NBR for standard oil, FKM for high-temperature, EPDM for water-glycol. Torque-controlled drivers ensure consistent preload on set screws and retainers.

7. Pressure Testing

Every coupling body is pressure-tested at 1.5× rated working pressure before leaving the cell — a 350-bar coupling is tested at 525 bar, held for 30 seconds. Any pressure drop exceeding 3% fails the part. Burst tests on samples are performed quarterly at 4× rated pressure minimum.

8. Cleaning, Final Inspection and Packaging

After testing, couplings are ultrasonically washed with water-based degreaser, rinsed and dried with filtered warm air. Cleanliness follows ISO 16232 particle counting on a sampling basis. Final inspection checks thread fit, sleeve lock action and appearance. Each coupling receives a laser-etched part code, batch number and pressure rating, then is packed in anti-corrosion VCI bags with desiccant, inspection reports and material certificates.

Quality System in Practice

Feiman's ISO 9001:2000 system is embedded in the production flow — first-article inspection, in-process SPC sampling, 100% pressure testing and full batch traceability. Export orders ship with EN 10204 3.1 certificates, test reports and packing lists that customs and end users can verify on receipt.

A reliable coupling is the sum of disciplined material selection, precision machining, controlled heat treatment, rigorous surface treatment, 100% pressure testing and full traceability. Hebei Feiman Machinery Parts Co., Ltd. applies these steps across 277 SKUs in ISO 03–50 range, serving customers in the United States, EU, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Commonwealth markets.
